CDR-11
CDR-11 Lightning Strike Counter
Electromechanical lightning strike counter
The CDR-11 lightning strike counter is a device designed to detect lightning strikes in external lightning protection installations (air terminals, PDC lightning rods, passive systems…).
CDR-11 detects the electrical current flowing to ground through the down conductor when a lightning strike occurs. The device records each strike and increments the electromechanical counter by one unit. The CDR-11 is installed on the lightning protection down conductor and requires no external power supply, as it uses the lightning’s own energy to operate.

Installation
Standards UNE 21.186, NFC 17-102, and IEC 62.305 specify the installation of lightning strike counters on down conductors, enabling immediate inspection and verification of the protection installation’s condition after each lightning strike: “The lightning protection system must be verified after any lightning strike recorded on the structure.”
The CDR-UNIVERSAL lightning counter was designed in accordance with the performance requirements of standard IEC 62.561/6:2011, Lightning Protection Components (LPCR) Part 6: Requirements for lightning strike counters.
It complies with the specifications of IEC 62.561/1:2012, Lightning Protection Components (LPCR) Part 1: Requirements for connecting components. Tests carried out at LABELEC, Electrotechnical Testing Laboratory, accredited by ENAC (accreditation no.: 307/LE681).
