Due to their structural characteristics and the locations where they are installed, wind turbines are at high risk of direct lightning strikes, particularly to their blades.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The occurrence of lightning strikes on wind turbine blades can cause mechanical damage to their structures.
